Big Island Engagement Session

Waimea is by far my favorite Big Island town for two reasons: One, our amazing studio owner Kolby moved here with her family, so every visit is a fun reunion with them! Two, this chilly sleepy town with rolling pastures and forests is so unique to the rest of tropical Hawaii.

I love when couples and families want to shoot here, and was so excited when Matt and Roxanne (who are sooo sweet!) wanted to shoot in a rustic forest area with their blue VW bug! This car is Matt's baby, and of course we had to include it in the shoot! Can't wait for their wedding next year when this car serves as their getaway car!

Tropical Estate Editorial

We're so excited about our recent Bajan Wed feature! We had so much fun dreaming up this styled shoot at Ka La'i Aloha Estate with some of our favorite vendors.

Beach photos and Waikiki weddings are wonderful but getting to shoot at private estate locations is always such a treat. We hope these photos help in showcasing this amazing venue and allow brides and grooms to see what a private estate wedding in Hawaii could potentially look like.

Check out our list of vendors below as well as our Bajan Wed feature here.

Raelee + Ryan Engagement

I met Raelee and Ryan a while back when they first inquired and quickly fell in love with them and their golden retriever, Juniper. When we were deciding on a place to take their engagement pictures, we settled on Sherwood Forest at sunrise because it was a great mix of beach and forest which would bring a lot of variety to the shoot. Raelee and Ryan asked if they could bring Juniper to the shoot which is like asking if I want dessert after dinner. The answer is always yes!

Since I knew they were bringing their dog I thought, "How cute would it be if Juniper had a little flower collar." I had a bunch of leftover flower crown supplies from a bridal shower I had just planned so I made a trip to Watanabe Floral and picked up some flowers before the shoot and did my best to make this puppy her own little flower collar. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I love when couples bring their dogs to shoots and weddings.  These fur-babies of theirs really do a good job of bringing out genuine emotions from our clients and they just brighten the moods of everyone. I had such a fun time running around the beach with these three and now I'm just counting the days until I get to shoot their wedding at Loulu Palm with the cutest flower girl around, Juniper.

Allison + Kevin

How special would it be to get married at your childhood home? Even though they live on the east coast now, Allison and Kevin came back to Hawaii to do just that! They were married in Kailua, HI in the backyard of her father's house!

My favorite parts of this wedding were the malasada station (yum!) and the giant reception dance party under the full moon!

Be sure to check out the cinema team's short film edit at the end of the gallery!
